On the third of March both webcams showed as offline on wunderground and stayed offline. I had to wait for my next visit to Picton before I could go and check the cameras and their settings. Upon first inspection I couldn't see anything out of the ordinary. I could login to the cameras just fine and the internal ftp test to wunderground was returned a message that it was a success. But why doesn't it work?
Webcam photos are uploaded to the FTP server at "webcam.wunderground.com". The hikvision cameras dont allow domain names and require an IP address. I decided to double check the IP address. Indeed the IP address had changed and is now 52.37.52.183. After changing the address my camera came back online on wunderground.com. I am surprised that wunderground changed their server address and didn't inform the people with webcams. Also the positive result for testing with the old address made troubleshooting confusing. If I could use a domain name instead of an IP address for the server address I would but as I said earlier the firmware on the cameras doesn't allow it.
